A Very Fine Late 19th Century Hand Carved Regence Style Gilt Wood Center Table

About the Item

A very fine late 19th century hand-carved Regence style giltwood center table. With legs headed by female busts, a wavy "X" stretcher at the base with scrolls centering a medallion. Topped with a Patricia green marble top. This table is almost identical to the 18th century model made by the sculptor Jules Degoullons for the Château de Bercy in 1713. With his associates, André and Mathieu Legoupil, Marin Bellan and Pierre Taupin, Degoullons was responsible for much of the carved paneling and carved furniture supplied to Charles-Henri II de Malon de Bercy, between 1712 and 1714. The table was purchased at the auction of the contents of Câteau de Bercy between July 15 and 18, 1860 by Napoleon III and placed in the national collection. François Linke reproduced this model between 1905 and 1910. One Linke model from the collection of Elias Meyer at 16 Grosvenor square in London, illustrated in C. Payne, Linke, p. 244-5, and sold Christie's New York, May 24, 1993, lot 338. Details: Height – 33 inches / 84cm Width – 64.5 inches / 164cm Depth – 37 inches / 94cm

Italian Baroque Carved Gilt and Lacquered Wood Center Table, 18th Century
Located in IT
Italian Baroque carved gilt and lacquered wood center table, 18th century This particular center table is made of golden and lacquered in ochre finely carved wood with rich floral decorations. The band below the top has a perforated ornament with volutes, phytomorphic elements and rocaille taste, characteristic of the Louis XV era. The legs are arched and moved with curly foot. They are joined together by crossed crossbars that create a refined game thanks to the richness of the carvings. The structure is made with ancient material of Turin (Italy) manufacture of the eighteenth century. The oblong and octagonal top was made in the early years of the twentieth century, in wood treated with faux yellow marble. The table is elegant and very decorative, easily combined, thanks to the light color, with both antique and modern...
