An exceptional 19th century Italian micro mosaic round center table featuring architectural scenes from Rome including a central scene of Saint Peter’s Basilica with a brick red marble band, surrounded by smaller oval scenes of the Colosseum, The Forum, The Pantheon, and the Temple of Hercules, Arch of Titus, and others, all inlaid in a black marble top, with a brick red marble outer band, with molded wooden edge surround, surmounting an ornately carved ebonized base with nice scroll work. Very good overall condition, with some surface imperfections in the top marble, as well as minor soiling, edge paint losses, and expected wear in the wooden base. Dimensions: 29 in height x 31.5 in diameter.

An amazing Regency period gilt and ebonised centre table with a specimen marble and micro-mosaic top. The wonderful top is built up out of a plethora of different marbles and stones all mosaiqüed together and banded by a border made of 44 different marble specimens, including samples of lapis lazuli, red and green porphyry, several types of onyx, jasper, breccia and many others. In the centre of the top sits a micro-mosaic panel depicting in detail the ruins of the Roman forum bordered by a slate and malachite band. The top sits on a wonderful anthemion decorated frieze on a fluted column and tripartite base decorated with a greek key finished on scroll feet.
