About the Item
A fabulous antique Swiss/German wood tavern table circa late 18th century, Known as Jogl table in Swiss Alps and German Bavarian region, the table features a skirt-boarded rectangular top with beveled edge. Underneath the top, a long frieze drawer is featured to one side for storage. Supported by four robust baluster legs and connected by a broad box stretcher. The angled-sprayed leg support provides the characteristic silouette of Jogl table. The tabletop has a green felt lining underneath, which appears to be a later addition. The top is removable.
The rustic piece is very charming and full of patina incurred in its lifetime. It can be used as a center table or small dining table and will make a great presence for any interior.
The table is in a good and stable antique condition, well used with authentic patina throughout. You would expect old dings, gouges on the edge, small chips, faint rings on top. Extensive worm holes and minor losses of wood on the legs. Examples are all shown in the detail photos.
