About the Item

This early twentieth century French Louis XV style walnut writing table features deep relief hand carved details of shells on all four sides and corners as well as scrolling leaves and a diamond pattern motif. The top is a book matched writing surface with a diamond shape pattern and a beveled edge. The table rests on four cabriole legs finished with escargot feet. A scrolling X stretcher with a central shell finial adds stability to the piece. From floor to apron measures 24 inches in height. An elegant, lavishly hand carved piece that could also serve as a center table, circa 1920.
