French Louis XV Brêche Violette Marble Top Center Table, Marquetry Parquetry
About the Item
Antique Louis XV style round center table produced between 1875 and 1900 is stunning. It is parcel gilt parquetry, marquetry and inlaid satinwood, which is surmounted by a circular Brêche Violette marble top. The table includes two deep drawers, but the detailing of the marquetry and parquetry inlay are what makes this piece a standout. The fleur de lys motif accents the marquetry and parquetry design work and contrasts the satinwood details. The patina of the various wood tones is warm. The marble top and drawers rest on the inlaid frame and drawers over a carved and pierced bottom rail,. The four cabriolet legs end in parcel gilt carved feet.
This auction acquisition is ready to be pressed into the next 100 years of service.
