About the Item
This pair of French style Louis XV nightstands are spectacular. The silhouette is beautiful with the elegant legs that rest on "little shoes." They are from the mid 20th century.
The set is constructed from kingwood veneered banded inlaid wood, and accented with ormolu, mounted on bombe two-drawer stands. They were made in Egypt.
The bombe-form cases have Rococo-shaped pulls and acanthus knee mounts, are raised on tall cabriole legs terminating in ormolu sabots. The backs of each bear paper labels that read "ATC Made in Egypt."
The two dressers present extremely well. The metal knee mounts need polishing , but the integrity and construction of the pieces is solid. At one time, the chests had marble tops and this would be a great finish to these elegant pieces.
Each measures 28 1/2 inches high by 21 1/2 inches wide by 13 inches deep.
