About the Item
Spanish wooden table with lyre legs and iron fasteners. 18th century.
The two lyre legs that support the table have wavy lines in the lower area and some shapes on the sides reminiscent of those of French cabriolet. Both are joined with an iron fastener and holds a board of one piece with its carved edges. This type of legs, called lira due to its similarity to the musical instrument, were widely used in the Renaissance, its use being continued later by the movement that its curved profiles contributed to the furniture."
