Antique converted 19th Century Dutch Colonial Teak Warm Brown Large Coffee Table

About the Item

This large table was originally crafted in the mid-19th century, around 1845, on the island of Java in what was then the Dutch East Indies, now known as Indonesia. The table was initially designed as a workbench for the production of cigars. Several decades ago, it was converted into a coffee table in the Netherlands. The tabletop is 11 inches thick and is made of beautiful teak wood with an exquisite grain pattern. It shows significant signs of wear and tear from years of intensive use, giving it a lot of character. The table's base was constructed in the Netherlands around 1960. The coffee table features slightly tapered legs and is equipped with three drawers. Each drawer is 13.78 inches wide and 5.91 inches high, offering plenty of storage space. The drawers are adorned with patinated brass drawer pulls. The table was stained to achieve its rich color and then lacquered multiple times. It has been finished and maintained with wax, giving it a warm, dark brown hue with a deep sheen. In our workshop, the coffee table was carefully cleaned, and a fresh layer of protective wax was applied. This beautiful, large coffee table is clean, sturdy, and ready for use.
