Refined and elegant Italian Art Deco coffee table in walnut; it has an immaculate and linear shape, aesthetically sought after and pleasant; from the edge of the upper round top depart four solid legs that at the bottom connect in a particular and original way to another top giving an excellent stability to the whole. The coffee table was made, between 1930 and 1935, in an artisan workshop in Cantù, a city located in the province of Como in Lombardy (Italy), renowned over time for its tradition in the production of luxury furniture and always considered an important center for furniture craftsmanship with a reputation established over the years in the creation of high-quality pieces. Cantù companies have always supplied furniture for a high-end clientele, which included both private individuals and luxury furniture projects for hotels, restaurants, and prestigious residences around the world. Our coffee table, with intelligently restrained dimensions and strong, simple lines, has a timeless elegance, and its design plays between austerity and rigorousness while its exaggerated linearity gives the object a dynamic and stately character. The distinctive element and uniqueness of the coffee table is the wood with which it is veneered: "Juglans regia" called "national walnut "or "European walnut." Walnut (Juglans regia) is a valuable, expensive hardwood; its colors, flaming, and grain have been appreciated for centuries. It is a wood that is unparalleled in its aesthetic appearance. Walnut furniture is highly sought after but also expensive because the usable wood part in each plant is very scarce. Veneering is an ancient woodworking technique that involves applying a thinner layer of fine wood to a substrate of normal-quality walnut wood; fine walnut wood is harvested from trees grown specifically for this purpose, it is then cut into thin sheets whose thickness varies from 1 to 2 millimeters; the base wood is prepared by applying a special glue then the fine walnut sheets are applied manually and uniformly; after this processing the whole is pressed and allowed to dry, allowing the glue to adhere firmly between the fine walnut wood and the substrate, creating a stable veneer; this once dry is finished with sanding, polishing and the application of protective finishes, such as varnishes or oils, to improve the appearance and durability of the wood. The history of veneering goes back many centuries; it is believed to have been first used in ancient Egypt and China. Over the centuries, this technique has spread throughout the world and has continued to evolve, becoming an important part of the production of high-quality furniture, luxury items, and objets d'art. This ancient technique, applied to our table, has made it possible to enhance the colors, flaming, and grain of fine flamed walnut.
