This piece is Low… Large… and IN CHARGE!!! This is a fabulous antique Chinese Ming style waisted opium bed or Monumental sized low coffee table composed of a wonderful walnut toned solid hardwood bearing a beautiful wood grain and a gorgeous natural aged patina. The table is waisted under a marvelous rectangular planked top surface, and it features a discreet decorative detail of pierced slots surrounded by (1 piece!) raised wood beading in the waist. If you know about 1 piece beading, you know it means that it’s a LOT of time, attention to detail, and shows a concern for high quality in the piece!! Plus, it’s subtle, but oh-so-stunning!! The whole table is raised upon charming chow legs with intricately hand carved beading (also 1 piece!) between the legs and visible marks in the wood resulting from hand carving… talk about character!!! Now, IYKYK (if you know, you know) the history behind the Chinese Opium daybed, let’s just say, we aren’t recommending that activity, but to each their own. You would toss down a mattress of a non-specific size, sit down either solo or with a friend & enjoy conversation and “hence the name” indulge in whatever you decide to “put in your pipe!!” Well… as interesting as that may be, we think it would be even more awesome used as a coffee table! Now, at SIX feet long and FOUR feet wide… it’s a substantial piece to say the least!! And it’s attractive Asian flair will be GORGEOUS among many styles of décor whether Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, and many others!! It will be a fun conversation piece in your living or family room adjacent the sofa topped with books & magazines, remotes & entertaining accessories, a fabulous sculpture, or foliage and it bears a beautiful Chinese Ming style exuding a timeless presence you are sure to love for years to come. Don’t let this magnificent monumental low coffee table or charming Chinese Opium bed slip away! You simply MUST have it… Make it YOURS!!!!!

Chinese Chinoiserie Dining Table Rosewood & Mother of Pearl Round to Oval
Located in Topeka, KS
Wonderful vintage Chinese Chinoiserie dining table comprised of Rosewood & Mother of Pearl (m-o-p) round top with 2 leaves, converting it to a small oval with one leaf and large oval with 2 leaves. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This Asian style table is in excellent vintage condition with the exception of a small missing piece of m-o-p on the top which we have repaired by filling with wood filler and painting with a pearlized paint. You can still see the spot when looking for it but doesn’t show overall. There was also a nick on the inside edge of one of the leaves that has been filled. The whole top and leaves have been scuffed and given a coat of poly for durability. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-Late 20th Century.
Mother of Pearl comes predominantly from the shell of the pearl oyster, freshwater pearl mussel, and abalone… making this table a true GEM!! This is a GORGEOUS Chinese rosewood dining table...
