About the Item

A beautiful pair of Mesa de Centro Chanceler tables designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his own company L’Atelier, Brazil 1959. The Mesa de Centro Chanceler or Chancelers’ table is a modest sized coffee table that can be found in different varieties of tops. The base, however, remains the same with some minor exceptions in the technical execution. To name a few examples, the legs could be made from steel or solid wood and tops could have tapered machined edges or a thick piece of wood covered in Jacaranda rosewood patchwork veneer in round, oval , square or rectangular shape. This design was pretty much a modular design, applicable into different projects for different wishes. This specific table has a black painted metal centre pole, with solid rosewood cross shaped feet, the top is made of Jorge Zalszupins signature patchwork rosewood. The tops have a very nice original colour of the rosewood patches, and they make these tables very interesting to look at. A nice detail is that the frame is mirrored from the bottom and top, it has a very nice strong aesthetic look compared to the thin tabletop. The tops are refinished, and the legs are still in good original condition. One of the tables has an original reference nr tag on the side which many original Zalszupins pieces have as they come from public buildings. Priced and sold in a set of 2. Have a look at the 360* video tour from the Jorge Zalszupin exhibition >   Video tour Fully refinished in our own atelier with high quality UV protection lacquer with preservation of authenticity. Also, completely structural checked and ready to use.

Giulio Lazzotti Megeia coffee table pair Italy 1979
By Giulio Lazzotti
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Nice pair of coffee tables by Gulio Lazzotti and manufactured by Megeia, italy 1979. The base consists of four marble columns with beautiful cut lining. Three black and one white. Two black columns are shaped like half a cylinder. The other two are two cylinders with a diameter which perfectly fits in the half parts, a nice visual detail. The bases can be put in a playful position to your wishes. The large square tops are from thick glass. The tables are in excellent condition. Priced and sold in a set of 2. This Postmodern design resembles the relationship between ancient masonry skills and applying these traditions in modern forms. Like some other Italian designers, Lazzotti in particular has an innovative approach towards experimenting with form, especially in stone and marble, and applying these mainly into tables. Giulio Lazzotti is an Italian designer and architect who has always given an important place to objects’s sculptural dimension. A great lover of marble, his work is modern, reconciliating a sense of craftsmanship with industrial production. Often hired as a consultant for his experience, Giulio shares his attention to detail throughout the world and collaborates with major furniture brands. The name of the town where Giulio Lazzotti lives and works, Pietrasanta, can be alternately translated as Saint Peter or “holy stone,” the latter being wholly appropriate for a designer and architect whose work in marble, metal and wood takes on a serene, sculptural presence. Lazzotti was educated at the prestigious University of Florence, where he later returned to teach architecture. Since 1975, Lazzotti has maintained a diverse practice encompassing architecture, interior design and furniture design, winning such awards as first prize for Design at the Moving Fair of Paris, the Torre Guinigi prize in Lucca for Urban Design for the historical center of Pietrasanta, a top ten in the International Chair...
