About the Item

A beautiful coffee table signed Jules Leleu and dated 1955. Raised on sycamore stave legs off musical form, brass bound edging holding the original antiqued mirrored glass top. Printed paper label to the underside of the house LELEU numbered 27357 and dated March 16, 1955. Literature: An exact example made for apartment de l’avenue Raymond-Poincare is illustrated on page 134 of Jules et Andre Leleu, published by Éditions Vecteurs 1989.

Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, Leleu studied decorative painting and at the age of 26 succeeded his father in the family painting business. With his brother he began work in the Decorating field.
