About the Item

Rare coffee table designed by designer duo Giuseppe Nerone and Gianni Patuzzi and Manufactured by Gruppo NP2 in Italy in 1966. This is an early work by NP2. The table has a Trani marble top and a dark grey painted metal base which has a very nice a-symmetrical form. The top has a nice patina from age in the middle there is the circle from the D63 module by NP2. Also does the top show amazing veins. The whole table is in very good original condition. Trani marble is the most famous and appreciated stone extracted in Puglia (one of the most important regions for the stone sector, second only after Tuscany). Better known as Trani stone, has been used very often in architecture not only locally (such as the Cathedral of Trani, built entirely of Train almost a millennium ago) but also at the national level. Trani is quarried in the Murgia area, near the Trani extraction basin, where there are numerous quarries. Gruppo NP2 was an influential artistic collective that operated in the Torino area. Known for their innovative and avant-garde approach, the group made significant contributions to the art scene during their active years. Led by talented artists, including Nerone Ceccarelli and Gianni Patuzzi, Gruppo NP2 left a lasting impact with their unique style and creative endeavours. The group’s works often showcased a fusion of geometrical forms and abstract elements, captivating viewers with their artistic expression and experimentation. With their commitment to pushing artistic boundaries and embracing new techniques, Gruppo NP2 played a vital role in shaping the art landscape of the region. Their artistic legacy continues to inspire and resonate with art enthusiasts, showcasing the power of collaboration and artistic innovation.

Giulio Lazzotti Megeia coffee table pair Italy 1979
By Giulio Lazzotti
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Nice pair of coffee tables by Gulio Lazzotti and manufactured by Megeia, italy 1979. The base consists of four marble columns with beautiful cut lining. Three black and one white. Two black columns are shaped like half a cylinder. The other two are two cylinders with a diameter which perfectly fits in the half parts, a nice visual detail. The bases can be put in a playful position to your wishes. The large square tops are from thick glass. The tables are in excellent condition. Priced and sold in a set of 2. This Postmodern design resembles the relationship between ancient masonry skills and applying these traditions in modern forms. Like some other Italian designers, Lazzotti in particular has an innovative approach towards experimenting with form, especially in stone and marble, and applying these mainly into tables. Giulio Lazzotti is an Italian designer and architect who has always given an important place to objects’s sculptural dimension. A great lover of marble, his work is modern, reconciliating a sense of craftsmanship with industrial production. Often hired as a consultant for his experience, Giulio shares his attention to detail throughout the world and collaborates with major furniture brands. The name of the town where Giulio Lazzotti lives and works, Pietrasanta, can be alternately translated as Saint Peter or “holy stone,” the latter being wholly appropriate for a designer and architect whose work in marble, metal and wood takes on a serene, sculptural presence. Lazzotti was educated at the prestigious University of Florence, where he later returned to teach architecture. Since 1975, Lazzotti has maintained a diverse practice encompassing architecture, interior design and furniture design, winning such awards as first prize for Design at the Moving Fair of Paris, the Torre Guinigi prize in Lucca for Urban Design for the historical center of Pietrasanta, a top ten in the International Chair...
