Dominique Zimbacca slatted coffee table by Pierre Chapo 1970
This table was designed by Dominique Zimbacca and produced by Pierre Chapo.
Dominique Zimbacca (1928-2011) began his career by creating furniture-sculptures, mainly wooden armchairs and coffee tables. His pieces are today particularly sought after by collectors, and were the subject of exhibitions in Basel and London in 2016.
Pierre Chapo, French designer (1927-1987). After a trip to the United States, Pierre Chapo founded his own firm in the Paris region to continue working with wood, a material he particularly likes. His design is based on the desire to combine modernity and tradition. Although they are still little known to the general public, his furniture is nevertheless highlighted during prestigious sales.
The table dates from the 70s, it is sold unprepared, unrestored, you must therefore accept wear due to time, we strive to give you as much information as possible. We report scratches, discolourations, a slight accident taken on camera.

Pierre Chapo
Pierre Chapo, who was born in Paris, France, in July 1927, was initially interested in becoming a professional painter. However, after a chance meeting with a shipbuilder who introduced him to wood and woodworking, Chapo changed his focus and decided to study architectural studies at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
After graduating, Chapo and his wife, the sculptor and painter Nicole Lormier, started traveling extensively through Scandinavia and Central America. Among the many places the couple visited was Taliesin West, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright — a visit that had a lasting influence on Chapo’s future work and designs.
