Wood and Black Steel Midcentury Modern Coffee Table
About the Item
Like petals of wood on a metallic stem, the panels of the Mayet Coffee Table are connected to a central steel beam. They cascade down in increments of 25mm, drawing a spiral in the air. As one’s point of view shifts, the four quarter circles of this round coffee table in wood and metal unite into a full circle, the lines of the american walnut veneer matching up to create the illusion of a single plane, or deconstruct into three dimensions. The X-shaped base, with its four feet, mirrors the four ribs of the vertical beam and the number of panels. Base in hand-welded and hand-polished steel, with a black powder coated finish. Tabletop panels in beech plywood, hand-veneered with american walnut or oak.
