A wood and formica conference or dining table, Italy, 1960s

About the Item

A large table, produced in Italy during the Sixties, crafted from wood and Formica, is perfect for furnishing a conference room, a spacious dining area, or any setting where socializing requires ample space to accommodate a large number of attendees. What makes this table unique is its large Formica-covered surface, characterized by a 10cm thickness that imparts a sense of robustness to the entire piece of furniture. The table legs, resembling buttresses of a large reinforced concrete construction, stand out for their architectural inspiration. This detail encapsulates much of the aesthetic and functional research of the first half of the twentieth century, during which Italy emerged as one of the countries that best expressed a particular idea of novelty and beauty. Imagining this piece of furniture surrounded by a group of executive chairs with armrests, or simply paired with a set of comfortable dining seats, means envisioning the table in different settings but with the same excellent aesthetic result. There exists a twin of this table, though it is exceedingly rare to find two identical tables of this type and size on the market. They can be placed in two different spots in a generously sized room, or positioned side by side, extending to an impressive length of 560 cm. Dimensions: 120 cm width x 280 cm depth x 80 cm height - tabletop thickness: 10 cm. The table can be customized in finish, and the Formica tabletop can be replaced or modified according to the customer's requirements.
