18th Century Italian Genovese Baroque Console With Siena Marble Top
About the Item
Genovese console table hand-made in Italy in the mid 1700s using poplar for the base and Siena marble for the top. The console table sits on the original hand-carved cabriole legs that end with paw feet. The marble and the base both have a serpentine front. As a result this is a very ornate and curvy piece. The base still features its original polychrome paint over the wood and the top has a beautiful ocre yellow color. The marble is still the original marble still shows the marks left by the chiseling of the stone workers on its back. Looking at it from the top, the marble shows a beautiful book-matched symmetrical pattern.
Overall this is a beautiful console table that will add a touch of sophistication to any entryway or hallway.
