18th Century Pair of Console Wood Rectangular Table Pearl Tesserae Turin 1725

Console, one of a pair, in painted wood, lacquered in polychrome and gilded, rectangular top decorated with chinoiseries embellished with mother-of-pearl tesserae and depicting boats, bridges, architectural structures, pagodas and thin saplings. Perimeter frame with multiple ribs, underlying band consisting of several curled scrolls centered by a vase of flowers on a mirror-set background. Carvings carved with female herms, with jewels and accented hair, designed to support a basket overflowing with fruit, feet with a feral paw with a meeting cross in games of linked shapes, enlivened by other leaves. Important manufacture of anthological solutions of the regency style, Turin 1725 ca. The great sculptural quality of the wooden parts, the refined use of the mirror inserts, the beauty and rarity of the decorated tops make us deduce a royal Savoy clientele probably for one of the palaces or court palaces. The black border in the photo of the two consoles in pairs is before the restoration, as the border was formerly gilded, it was restored in patina in the conservative restoration, as you can see in the first photo. Published in the book "The Language of Ancient Furniture" Lucien Zinutti, Devanzis, p. 256.
