About the Item

Antique late Qing period Chinese elm altar table. It features mitered mortise and tenon joinery construction, two deep drawers and carved spandrel corner supports on round, straight legs joined by double stretchers. This is a striking piece with a minimalist design and clean lines crafted of Chinese elm, a hardwood known for its durability, strength and dark reddish-brown hue. Original finish has been preserved and shows its rich, uniform patina which has a desirable, rustic texture only time can achieve. The drawers have original, hammered iron drop pull handles. A beautiful antique with an inviting organic feel that will bring warmth to any room.
