About the Item

A very good quality antique Regency mahogany metamorphic dumb waiter/side table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, circa 1830. When closed this is a vesy useful side or serving table & when activated opens to reveal a three tier dumb waiter. The rectangular shaped top when lifted becomes the top tier as the interior pedestal extends upwards and the 3rd tier lowers automatically by a concealed mechanism. When locked in position all the tiers are stable & robust and are perfect for serving, the three tier dumb waiter easily & smoothly returns to a table by pressing a lever on the top part of the pedestal and locks tightly into place as a table once again. (please see the video attached of the table being operated by one of Bloomsbury's staff members) The table is made from figured Cuban mahogany and is raised on a quatrefoil base with turned & compressed bun feet, condition is very good, retaining the original patina. Table height when open is 40"
