Charred Live Edge Maple on Polished Steel Base Console Table by Carlo Stenta
About the Item
This elegant console table by Carlo Stenta is a sculptural entry table that combines modern-industrial with the organic. Recovery Furniture’s Tina Console in polished steel features a charred live edge slab of maple resting upon a solid steel base. The edges of the slab are hand-carved to recreate the chipped ends found on marble and stone. Carlo then chars the wood using his modern interpretation of the Shou Sugi Ban technique. Completed with a hand-rubbed combination of natural oils and waxes, the richness in color and texture is finally revealed.
The base is made of raw, ½” solid steel that is fabricated and rolled until it evolves into the organically flowing form of the Tina Console. The edges are hammered by hand and the interior and exterior faces are burnished before being finished in a proprietary blend of clear metal oils. The ebonized maple top is finally married to its polished steel base, creating a harmonious unification of contrasting materials. The Tina Console in polished steel is intended to be placed in an open interior space with warm lighting, and is designed to complement interiors ranging from the industrial to the modern.
