Ignazio GARDELLA (1905-1999) è stato uno dei protagonisti del razionalismo e dell’architettura italiana del Novecento. Nato a Milano in una famiglia di ingegneri, si laureò sia in Ingegneria che in Architettura, qualità che gli permise di unire rigore tecnico e sensibilità estetica. Durante gli anni Trenta aderì al Movimento Moderno, ma seppe distinguersi dai dogmi più rigidi grazie a un approccio personale, attento al contesto urbano e alla tradizione costruttiva italiana. Tra le sue opere più celebri vi sono la Dispensario antitubercolare di Alessandria (1938), esempio paradigmatico del razionalismo, e la Casa alle Zattere a Venezia (1953-58), in cui dialogano modernità e memoria storica. Fondatore dello studio BBPR e attivo anche nel design di mobili e lampade, Gardella collaborò con aziende come Azucena, contribuendo a definire un gusto sobrio, raffinato e senza tempo. La sua lunga carriera testimonia una costante ricerca di equilibrio tra innovazione e continuità, facendo di lui un maestro riconosciuto a livello internazionale.
