Italian, venetian XVIII century console table in gilded wood

About the Item

This console was made in the XVIII century in Venice, Italy, from carved and gilded wood. The recessed top is in pink marble. The console has a Louis XV style line, with a strongly shaped top, a band and curved legs. On the front and sides the band features a carved decoration with scroll motifs and phytomorphic elements in the Rocaille style. On the front we find a burin workmanship. The four legs are crossed by floral branches in relief and carved feet. The brilliance of the gold and the refined Venetian curved lines of this console make it an important piece of furniture, perfect for placing in an entrance, living room or lounge, combined with antique or modern furnishings. The console Graceful furnishing of "porteghi", halls and sitting rooms, the console takes on, in the Rococo era, countless shapes, all invariably marked by the unstable lightness of the serpentine line, which declines the fluxous incarnation of the "en cabriole" supports. Emblem par excellence of opulence and the splendor that accompanies it, gold leaf entirely covers the pine frame of this refined console with pink marble top, of “Venezia acqua” origin. Venice water The Venetian furniture "Venice water" in antiquarian jargon, is much more refined and of much higher quality than the Venetian furniture, which remains tied to the provincial inflections of the area surrounding Venice. Details: There are various elements that give decorative quality and that allow this console to be characterized as Venetian: Carvings the presence on the surface of the "en-cabriole" legs of carvings with flowers and leaves. Next to "s" The strongly wavy sides are an indication of the further quality and rarity of this console. Burin burin processing Apron the typical carving in the center of the central apron Authenticity There are various elements that allow us to ascertain the originality of this console: a view of it from the bottom and the back, already with the naked eye, allows us to connote the age of the wood dating back to the 18th century; the presence of similar works, useful for a comparative exercise, published in I Mille Mobili Veneti by Clara Santini, pages 167-168-169; 18th century Venetian furniture, G. Morazzoni Its exhibition at Modenantiquaria, a market exhibition of high antiques in which the display of any object can only be carried out after passing a thorough examination by a large group of experts called the Commission. *It should be noted that this work has not yet obtained the certificate of free export from Italy from the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage.
