Fine and Exceptional Empire Pier Table
About the Item
A 19th century classical Empire pier console table having a beveled rectangular marble top above an Ogee mahogany veneered apron raised on carved and gilt white marble Ionic column supports. The unusual shaped serpentine plateau before an inset mirrored back, the whole raised on ring-turned bun feet. Metal angle braces were added later for structural support underneath the marble top.
Dimensions:: 45.75” wide by 20.85” deep by 38.75” high.
Condition: The piece with expected chipping to the under edge of the marble top and a few stable age cracks as shown in the photos to the plateau, veneer and wood losses on the right side curve and wood loss below the curve, veneer losses as shown in photos and a few age related wood losses with the pier table presenting exceptionally well.
