About the Item

A stunning and extremely decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated wood and Campan Rubané marble console. The console is raised by elegant circular fluted tapered legs decorated with beautiful tied wrap around garlands and blooming flowers. The legs are connected by a concave stretcher with a wonderful wicker like design leading to charming richly carved love birds brooding their eggs in their nest at the center amidst wheat, foliage, and blooming flowers. Above each leg are fine floral block rosettes flanking the fluted straight frieze decorated with lovely wheat sprigs and a stunning central panier reserve with unique and most decorative ripe fruit and richly carved colorful blooming flowers, and gardening tools with bagpipes. Above is the original Campan Rubané marble top. All original patina throughout. Based on a model of the furniture in Marie Antoinette's Bedchamber at the Petit Trianon, a château located on the grounds of the Palais de Versailles, Paris.
