French Empire Revival 19th Century Giltwood Carved Figural Console and Mirror

A fine French Empire Revival 19th century giltwood and Gesso carved figural console table with matching mirror. The "D" shaped top console raised by a pair of seated winged sphinxes with notched corner frame over a conforming frieze, centred by a pierced carved Satyr mask with foliate swags, above a mirrored trefoil backboard centred by a flowering urn adorned by chimera, raised on a shaped base and fitted with a Verde d'alps marble top. The figural mirror flanked by a pair of seated winged sphinxes, with carved scrolls, garlands and crowned with a pierced carved Satyr mask with foliate swags and acanthus, flanked by a pair of floral urns, Paris, circa 1880-1890.

- Condition:Repaired: Some areas of new 2 cart gold leaf restorations. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. A truly stunning matching console and mirror. All gilt is high quality gold and has some restorations. Some rubbing to the gilt exposing the red primer base. The beveled mirror plate has some age spotting and wear rubbing consistent with age.
