French Gilt-Bronze Mounted Bureau Plat
About the Item
French gilt bronze-mounted bureau plat
Late 19th century. The rectangular top with inset leather above three fitted drawers with gilt bronze banding;
the side mounted with Bacchic masks raised on cabriole legs and terminating in paw feet.
Measure: Height 30 1/2, width 72, depth 36 1/2 inches.
Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Scattered age and construction cracks. Veneer with scattered age and construction cracks through and some small losses. Scattered restorations to veneer; not extensive. Minor marks and surface scratches to the leather top, consistent with use. Ormolu with wear and rubbing, traces of oxidation and surface dirt. Some bronzes slightly loos, a few screws and pins missing. Missing keys.
