About the Item

French Régence Style dark wood and gilt Console Table, circa 1860 An antique French Régence style wooden table with gold gilded elements and a white Statuary Carrara marble top. The serpentine shaped frieze is overlaid with carved and gilded pinewood in the form of a centre cartouche above swags of summer flowers and laurels. The front legs are canted and have clam shell detail on the knees, these terminate with claw feet which stand on a lower shelf constructed from rosewood with fine string inlaying. The original white Italian Statuary Carrara marble top is partially recessed into the table.
