About the Item

Elegant carved and gilded wooden console, of Venetian manufacture, datable to the mid-19th century, in the transitional period between Louis Philippe and Charles X. The cabinet has a rich relief decoration, with wavy legs joined by a shaped crosspiece, decorated with phytomorphic motifs and scrolls with a strongly plastic character. The gilding in pure gold leaf is particularly brilliant and enhances the depth of the carving, which recalls the Venetian decorative tradition between Baroque taste and fully nineteenth-century movements. The top mounts a dark marble slab with reddish veins, an antique replacement for the original top, consistent in aesthetic quality and patina. It shows restoration work in one corner, without compromising its solidity or ornamental value. State of preservation good and consistent with age, with normal wear and minor falls in the gilding at the bottom due to use and cleaning over time. Dimensions Width 166 cm Depth 62 cm Height 98 cm Console of important presence and executive quality, ideal for entrances, lounges and reception rooms.
