About the Item
Particularly tasteful hand-carved Louis Philippe wall console made of wood with a white marble top, made in France around 1850.
The exceptionally magnificent design of the console has a construction made spruce with parts of oak - partly solid wood, partly veneered. The masterpiece stands very elegantly thanks to the gracefully curved legs and the lower base plate. Wonderful details include elaborately crafted ends, some with stylized rotated decorations or round tenons.
Another highlight of the design is the end with a metal putto in the lower area, centrally embedded in rocailles and fully sculptural. The white marble plate forms the top finish; the slight signs of wear and slight discoloration make it easy to see that it is the original plate.
Measurements approx.: height 33,50 in – 85,1 cm, width 40,98 in – 104,1 cm, depth 17,99 in – 45,7 cm.
