About the Item
A most decorative and high quality Italian early 19th century Baroque st. Mecca, Giltwood, and Gris St. Anne marble console. This intricately carved console is raised on a scallop shaped mottled base with fluted carvings and a Mecca seashell above while being supported on three slender egg and dart patterned feet. Atop the Mecca seashell is a joyous and removable cherub displaying scaled legs with one arm raised over his head. The frame behind the cherub showcases tastefully carved scrolling acanthus leaves that flank the pierced rosette figure in the center. The lovely original scallop shaped Gris St. Anne marble top adds an eye-catching aspect to an already amazing piece.
