About the Item
A striking Italian 19th century Louis XIV st. giltwood and marble console with the original companion mirror. The elegant console is raised by circular tapered fluted legs with topie shaped feet with fine carved acanthus leaves and Vitruvian scrolled top caps mirrored on each side. The apron displays carved block rosettes above each leg and beautiful scrolled foliate movements on a most attractive hammered background. All centered by a charming and finely detailed urn with two lovebirds bathing. Above the beautiful original veneered Trets marble top is the original matching mirror. The mirror displays a bottom recessed panel with a striking hammered background and central rosette in a rich satin and burnished finish. At each side are foliate movements framed within a most decorative foliate band. The original mirror plates are framed within outstanding interlocking giltwood patterns with fine rosettes. The striking pierced top crown displays wonderful scrolled rinceau shaped foliate movements centering the original oval mirror plate framed within an exception carved design. All original gilt throughout.
