Italian early 19th century patinated and Giltwood mirror and console
About the Item
A spectacular and grand scaled Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated Wood and Giltwood matching console and mirror. This exceptional console is raised by a square patinated Wood plinth leading up to a central mirror plate trimmed with a Giltwood palmette border and flanked by S-scrolled supports decorated with a large Giltwood acanthus leaves and rosette details. Above the supports is an apron supporting a white Marble top underlined by a continuous Giltwood palmette border. Resting on the console is the mirror, framed in off-white patinated Wood and trimmed with a Giltwood palmette border. Flanking the top mirror plate are two vertical columns of Giltwood palmettes on off-white backgrounds capped with Giltwood richly detailed Corinthian capitals. The entablature shows a finely detailed palmette and Rinceau horizontal motif, while the cornice features a Rai-de-Coeur border topped by a richly carved acanthus leaf band.
