About the Item

Rare Console designed by Pierluigi Colli in the 1940s, Colli's style is characterized by a meticolous and artisanal workmanship of the surfaces of the furniture, the wood is treated almost as if it were embroidery, with minute carvings, engravings and grooves. This rare Console, complete in all its parts, is a wonderful example, it combines the salient features of ots design, the lateral parts in carved walnut, the refined geometric design, the thuya wood used for the drawers, the top and the drop door. The exotic thuya wood was Colli's preferred burl wood. Contrasting wood textures and appealing grains, the different techniques used and the geometrical lines give the Console a sumptuous and refined appearance. Its execution and appearance form an exceptional combination of both the traditionally decorative and the more modernist aesthetics of the Italian Art Deco. Colli's designs express a so-called Turinese elegance, characterized by the accuracy of their execution and the use of luxurious materials. The designs were tailored to each clients' specific wishes and requirements. This Console, in addition to having a beautiful large thuya briar top, is equipped with three drawers in the upper partt and four drawers, each of a different size to maintain the tapered line, in the lower part protected by the splendid drop top divided into sections on the outside. The drawers contain the original velvet cutlery holders which can be removed upon request. This piece is in very good conditions as it has been recently restored by an expert craftsman. Ready to use
