Italian Neoclassical Period 18th Century Console Table with Marquetry Décor

About the Item

An Italian Neoclassical period crotch mahogany and walnut console table from the 18th century with marquetry décor, tapered legs and single drawer. Created in Italy during the 18th century, this Neoclassical console table features a rectangular top adorned with crotch mahogany and walnut banding, sitting above an elegant apron with a décor echoed from the top. The central section conceals a single drawer. This drawer opens thanks to an ornate escutcheon, to reveal a paper lined interior. Its dovetail construction demonstrates the table's good age. The ensemble is raised on four tapered legs with molded accents on the knees. The sides are similar to the front and the back showcases a dark stain. The table will therefore benefit from being placed against a wall. With its Neoclassical lines and fantastic details, this Italian console table from the 18th century will make for a wonderful addition to any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or study.
