M_017 Console by Anya Antropova for Monolith

About the Item

The M_017 Tuye Console embodies a delicate balance between monolithic solidity and lightness. With its earthy travertine outline, it seamlessly integrates into diverse design contexts serving as a versatile stage for curated objets d'art. Designed by Anya Antropova for Monolith *Given the unique nature of natural stone, each piece will vary slightly in look. Custom dimensions and materials available upon request. Tuye collection was born from Anya's desire to explore her roots and memories from the culture and place she grew up in.
Tuye, the ship of the desert, had always been a sign of stability for the Kazakh nomadic nation. The collection embraces the simplistic monolithic approach that aches for the groundedness and reverence for the land.
“I wanted to re-feel that overwhelming state of being one with the landscape. You know, when you want to open your arms and scream from the bottom of your lungs because it is primal, it is grounding, it fills you up with otherworldly energy.”
The choice of the material is inspired by the Ustyurt plateau in Mangystau area of Kazakhstan. The travertine for the collection is carefully selected for its tactile qualities that do not hide the imperfections and instead let them tell you a story of their own. With its timeless proportions, minimalist simplicity and earthy materiality, Tuye collection carries a deeply emotional and at times whimsical take on Anya’s own memories.
“I remember that flight as it was yesterday. I was twenty, full of ambitions, and terrified to my guts. I saw the landscape fading away in the airplane window. Leaving my home land, my city, and my friends towards all the unknowns that would unfold in the next many years in Canada and beyond.
It was only natural that my first furniture collection would become an ode to everything I left behind. The rolling landscapes, the nomadic spirit, the richness of the craft - those are just some themes
