Massive And Extraordinary Primitive French Hunt Board
About the Item
Originally purchased outside of Paris sixty years ago and believed to be from a Cathedral in France, possibly the region known as Brittany. The Table with great weight and solidity and having pegged construction, angled leg supports and simple deeply carved incised line decoration on the legs and apron. The entire table has a superlative timeworn surface that has been softened to an earthy and softly textured hand.
Dimensions: 116" L x 19.25” D x 29.75” H.
Condition: Please see detail photos. All of the surfaces show various signs of great age including time softened losses, lost knots, scratches, gauges and general wear all of which time has ameliorated into a most impressive age patina. A third of the table top has a lighter finish due to sunning which does not detract from the incredible presentation.
