About the Item

This mid eighteenth century French Regency period wall console table features a beveled white marble with curved front. The hand carved apron below the marble is detailed with a central asymmetrical scalloped shell flanked by C scrolls. Scalloped shells and additional scrolling finish out the corners and back sides. An inset checkered pattern adorns the curved panels between the carvings. The table rests on two cabriole legs joined by a scalloped shell at the bottom and finished with scrolling and acanthus leaves. Painted grey with vestiges of gold detailing and a patina that only comes with age, this piece would be ideal in a small entryway or at the end of a hallway. c. 1750.
