Mid Century Robert Heritage For Archie Shine Rosewood Console Table/Desk Vintage Retro MCM
Made in the late 1960s in England, this fabulous, beautiful and elegant British designed hallway console table or desk is a real mid century statement piece. Designed by Robert Heritage for Archie Shine, which have become vintage icons for designs.
Part of the Kimberley range launched in 1963.
Rare to find this in rosewood, when most versions were made in teak.
This highly functional piece can also be used as a desk given its proportions. Featuring 2 pull out drawers and flush fitting draw pulls which highlight its quality in manufacturing.
Simple lines and round legs make this table such an aesthetically pleasing piece.
Has been professionally restored and renovated to a high standard.
Archie Shine was one of the top British makers of up-market contemporary furniture in the 1960s and into the 1970s, and his pieces were retailed by Harrods and Heals of London and other top quality shops in the UK. Archie Shine pieces were expensive back in the day, and pieces such as this were always luxury items so not found in large numbers and much sought after today.
Robert Heritage designed furniture for a number of British makers in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, but is best known for his work for the top quality London maker Archie Shine. Archie Shine furniture was retailed by Heals and a few independent up-market provincial retailers. Robert Heritage was also an influential Professor of Furniture at the Royal College of Art from 1974-1985.
