Naive 18th Century West Indies Rosewood Console
About the Item
A unique naive made console dating from the 18th century from what was called the West Indies but nowadays call the Caribbean. The console has so much character in its wonkiness. Crafted from solid Rosewold every piece is hand hewn and it looks as if it were put together by someone who had never built furniture before. The bottom of the piece has 300 years with of repairs and make do repairs. It's almost like someone on a ship showed a craftsperson an engraving and told them to make it. We've taken the table apart and reglued all the parts and pieces and touched up any repairs that showed from the outside. From the underside you can see how much love went into making this table last and we wanted to add to it and make it last for years longer.
