Pair of French Turn-of-the-Century Louis XVI St. Giltwood and Marble Consoles
About the Item
A stunning pair of French turn-of-the-century Louis XVI st. giltwood and Brèche d'Alep marble consoles. Each wall mounted console is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine reeded feet and striking block reserves connected by the scalloped shaped stretcher with a beautiful richly carved central floral wreath with a trumpet and a mandolin tied with a charming ribbon. Above each leg are additional remarkable block reserves flanking exceptional and extremely decorative interlocking geometric patterns with finely detailed rosettes framed within a mottled beaded border and centered by a lovely scrolled acanthus leaf reserve. Above are the original Brèche d'Alep marble tops with finely mottled borders. All original gilt throughout.
