Pair of Italian Mid-19th Century Giltwood Consoles with Matching Mirrors
About the Item
A spectacular and very high quality pair of Italian 19th century neo-classical st. giltwood consoles and matching mirrors. Each important freestanding console is raised by elegantly scrolled legs with beautiful foliate feet and striking swaging fabric garland top caps. The legs are connected by impressive concave stretchers with outstanding intricately detailed central urns with blooming flowers and swaging foliate garlands. The aprons display most decorative designs with superb central seashell reserves flanked by recessed blocks with charming meticulously etched floral designs. Above the aprons are the original Portoro marble tops following the shade of the consoles below. The original matching mirrors above each retain their original mirror plates and are set within elegant straight mottled frames with fine scalloped shaped top crowns. Above are outstanding richly carved perched eagles holding a family crest amidst blooming flowers and beautiful swaging floral garlands. All original gilt throughout.
