Pair of Italian Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Giltwood Freestanding Consoles
About the Item
A stunning and large scale pair of Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood and Portoro marble consoles. Each freestanding console is raised by finely carved topie shaped feet with block reserves below the elegant circular tapered fluted legs with foliate designs and wrap around berried laurel bands. Each leg is connected by an impressive concave stretcher with lovely wave carvings and a striking urn of prosperity with Greek key shaped handles and beautiful richly carved blossoming flowers and foliate garlands. Above each leg are block rosette reserves flanking the straight frieze decorated with most decorative interlocking bands, rosettes and centered by a finely detailed crest depicting the harvest. Above are the orignal thick Portor marble tops with exceptional mottled borders. All original gilt throughout.
