Massive console table of solid oak (+ linseed oil)

Warm furniture’s made by the designer Denis Milovanov from "Soha" studio. Simplicity of shapes. Authentic material.
Wooden items are created from oak and are boiled in oil from several days to several weeks, to achieve a natural wood coloration from a dark brown to a complete black color. Patterns are applied solely by chain saw.
Denis Milovanov produces wooden sculptures employing chainsaw and chisel as sole instruments of his practice. Reclaimed oak is carefully chosen, hand-processed and boiled in linseed oil in accordance with traditional Russian woodwork principles that help expelling moisture from the wood, increase its durability and provide a reserved and deep palette of color to the finish: from light hazel to pitch-black charcoal.
Gray, seasoned wooden temples with intricate ancestral carvings in abandoned villages of Northern Russia constitute the main visual reference for the artist. Hand-picked material for the sculptures comes from fallen or naturally withered oak trees to retain the notion of organic life cycle. Resulting pieces resemble neo-primitivist totems covered with an expressive and hypnotic scarring from the masterful use of chainsaw.

Denis Milovanov
Denis Milovanov is a Russian designer and artist, born in 1975 in Moscow. He is the first Russian artist who participated in the respected design exhibitions, “Maison&Objet," in Paris (2014) and “Design Miami/Basel," in Basel (2015). He is also the founder of the SÓHA Concept brand, which successfully debuted at “Maison&Objet,” in Paris, in the categories of rare art and Haute Couture interiors in 2015. In 2016, the solo exhibitions and presentations of his collection took place in Armel Soyer Galerie, PAD Paris, and AD Collection in Paris.
