Paris Console 2 Brazilian agate is revered around the world for its clarity and color. In Studio Greytak’s Paris Console 2 a bookended pair of icy blue agates are set atop a mirror finish of polished bronze like summer clouds floating above a clear glacial lake. Fiery bronze frames the agates and connects them to a swirling cabinet of walnut burl. Inside, rich leather lines two thin drawers that mirror the paired slices of stone featured above. Both functional art and museum-like display, this piece brings emotional, physical, and intellectual balance to any space. Brazilian agate is considered some of the best agate in the world. When lava reaches Earth’s surface, it bubbles as it cools forming pockets of air. Over centuries, water trickles through fractures in the rock, depositing silica gel on the cavity walls which hardens into concentric bands. Changes in the water’s mineral composition create different layers and colors. Agates have a slow vibrational frequency, which makes them very calming.
