About the Item
A very rare pair of 19th Century well figured mahogany marble top console tables of neat proportions, finely hand carved with beautifully rich patination and grain. This exceptional pair feature a striking moulded, serpentine fronted Rosso Levante marble top of rectangular form above a deep frieze decorated profusely with a gorgeous centred arrangement of motifs comprising of a stylised scallop shell, scrolls and acanthus leaves flanked with richly trailing foliate. Supported on elegantly, tapering cabriole legs united with double scroll stretcher surmounted with centred urn finely hand carved in high relief, terminating on whorl foot.
