About the Item
This appears to be a custom fabrication of some kind dating to the mid/late 20th century. The base is a solid steel/iron bar. Very heavy and structurally sound. It has drill holes in it where screws mount a large seat cushion. Pease note the dimensions because it may be necessary to make adjustments to the given piece.
The base alone could support a large piece of marble and possibly be used as a long architectural table base. Either a Low Console Table or a Coffee Table. Pending height requirements could modify to fit needs or leave as is and just replace the cushion top with a table top.
I believe as it is, it is to tall to be a bench to sit on. If used as a bench, I think the feet would need to be trimmed to a nicer height specification after deciding on height of upholstered section. This should be an easy thing for any metal shop to handle. These are the dimensions of the pieces.

height of the metal base alone is: 18.125"
height of the seat cushion as upholstered is 4.5"
it is a wonderfully constructed form, but please note it is heavy and very durable as it stands.
