About the Item

French Directoire Transformable Games Table, Late 18th – Early 19th Century This French Directoire-style table embodies the elegance and ingenuity of late 18th-century craftsmanship. Made from fine mahogany, it rests on five tapered legs ending in bronze sabots with discreet casters, allowing for easy movement. Originally designed for card games, this table is distinguished by its versatility: – The first tabletop, when opened, transforms the piece into a dining table, providing additional space for your guests during meals or gatherings. – The second tabletop, when unfolded, reveals a green felt gaming surface in very good condition, inviting refined moments of card playing and leisure. The table opens by sliding the apron, revealing a cleverly designed drawer to store game accessories and to support the tabletop extensions when opened. When folded, the table becomes a narrow console that can be placed against a wall, perfect for displaying decorative objects or serving as an occasional table in your living space. It proudly bears the marks of time, symbols of its authenticity and the history it has witnessed. This table is ideal for those seeking a versatile, elegant piece full of history, ready to find its place in a classic or contemporary interior.
