18th Century Italian Fratino Desk

About the Item

An Italian fratino desk with lyre legs and iron stretcher from the 18th century. This antique table from Italy, in typical fratino style, features a rectangular-shaped wood top raised upon a pair of lyre carved trestle legs, which are braced at the underside with a pair of beautifully curved x-shaped forged-iron stretcher bars. The trestle legs are each braced along their bottom with a beam that has a lovely scallop-carved underside, and terminate into volute feet. The walnut has a wonderful, naturally bleached patina; a wonderful reflective of it's history and use. The leg clearance between the underside of the apron and floor measures 27.5 inches in height. This 18th century Italian fratino desk with lyre-legs, is smaller sized at approximately 3.75 feet wide, which gives it much versatility for function and use within your home.
