18th Century Italian Walnut Writing Table

About the Item

Writing desk Hand-crafted in Italy in the late 1700s using walnut. The table follows the typical Italian neoclassical style canons, with long, tapered legs and flat-fronted inset drawers. The drawers show beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints, and the fronts are decorated with a thin line of veneer. The top is one single board nailed to the apron with square nails. The joints of the apron show large square wooden pegs. Overall this desk has beautiful color, patina and proportions. The dark color is offset by the long legs. The drawers are spacious and work well, making it a perfect piece for someone who needs to use it on a daily basis. Its relatively small size also make it a perfect piece for who wants to add an antique to a home, but does not have a lot of space.
